Bill Hutton is a retired Sergeant having served 35 years with LASD. He attended the Academy in 1967 while still serving in the United States Marine Corps. Bill served 4 years in the Marine Corps obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant . He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant while in the Active Reserves.

Bill is our Veterans Service Officer for the LASD Retired Web Site. He has completed the Basic Course for Service Officers and also the Military Order of the Purple Heart, National Service Officer Course in Nashville, Tennessee (2006). Bill is a certified National Service Officer and assists Veterans strictly on a volunteer basis.

Bill is a Combat Veteran having served with a Marine Infantry Unit (3/4/3) in Vietnam during 1966. Bill received three Purple Heart medals, a Silver Star medal and was medically evacuated from Vietnam in October, 1966.

Bill attended the 2007 National Service Officer Training in Chandler, Arizona and is now the Commander, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Department of California. Semper Fi.
